This past weekend, gaming publication Polygon wrote an article about the Bully easter egg in Grand Theft Auto 5’s new Diamond Casino DLC. Instead of the post’s URL relating to the easter egg, though, it instead read “bully-sequel-announced-fall-2020-news-embargoed-do-not-publish,” leading many to think that Polygon had accidentally leaked the existence of Bully 2 ahead of an imminent announcement by Rockstar Games.

Polygon’s joke URL spawned a number of articles about whether or not the publication had legitimately leaked Bully 2. Unfortunately for those hoping that Polygon had truly leaked Bully 2, it later updated the article to clarify that the URL was just a joke by weekend editor Owen S. Good. “Well, I am dining on one tasty plate of crow right now,” he said, saying that the joke URL was a “dumb idea” and that no one else at Polygon was involved in making it.
While we still don’t know for sure if Bully 2 even exists, there is good evidence that a version of the game actually was in development about a decade ago, only for it to be canceled. A former Rockstar Games employee revealed details on the canceled Bully 2 game that was in the works for PS3 and Xbox 360. The game was eventually scrapped, but it would have been about Jimmy’s summer vacation at his stepdad’s house.
Now, it’s possible that Rockstar has started working on a new version of Bully 2 in the years since it canceled the original idea. The latest rumors for the unannounced Bully 2 say that the game will be about Jimmy in college, but there aren’t many details available beyond that. And of course, it’s possible that information is made up too, so the best bet is for fans to wait for an official announcement from Rockstar before getting too excited.
Bully 2 is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
